Typojanchi Saisai is a pre-biennale to explore its themes and present expectancy and possibilities prior to the main event. It consists of diverse channels such as symposia, workshops, and exhibitions at the discretion of the director. Saisai 2020–2021 this time had workshops on 14~22 December, 2020 and a talk on 1 May, 2021. The workshop and the talk are the results of attempting to search for diverse possibilities that can be expressed with the combined two words of letter and life.

Dawoon Chung continues her activities with an interest in objects after being abandoned. Starting with the question of ‘Is it possible to have a cafe without disposable cups?’, she has opened a cafe called Bottle Factory that proposes sustainable daily life and introduced a tumbler rental service for the first time in Korea. Dawoon Chung conducts various life experiments that can be designed for the environment and people.

Byggstudio is a Norwegian-Swedish multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2006 by graphic designers Hanna Nilsson and Sofia Østerhus. Byggstudio works with both commissioned and self-initiated projects in the boundaries of design, landscape architecture, and art focusing on placemaking and design for public space. Their works include research, concept development, design, and content for three-and two-dimensional visual identities, wayfinding, environment concepts, and exhibitions, as well as printed matter. Also, their special interest is outdoor environments and all aspects of the process of designing places with high play value, for and with children.

Shunya Hagiwara, Tokyo
Shunya Hagiwara is a web designer and programmer with interdisciplinary expertise in programming and design. After working for Semitransparent design, in 2012 he set up his own business. He’s heavily involved in production-related work such as planning, conceptualization, direction, implementation, design, and operational work primarily in the areas of web design and digital art. Shunya Hagiwara has served as a part-time lecturer at Tama art university since 2015 and received Japan Media Arts Festival Award as a member of IDPW.org. He is also a member of the organizing committee of the book event Trans Books.

Youngshin Park, Seoul
Youngshin Park is a book artist, picture book writer, and art director at Ian Design. She has designed numerous illustrated encyclopedias, Korean dictionaries, and picture books since 1983. Youngshin Park received Design Achievement Award on Book Day in 2020 by attempting new ways of making art books, such as Bird & Bird Sound, which visualized bird sounds in Morse code, and God’s Garden, a book composed of imaginary seeds.

Erich Brechbühl (Mixer), Luzern
Erich Brechbühl is a Lucerne-based independent graphic designer and is mainly known for his diverse poster designs — his preferred mode of graphic expression. After studying typography, he became an apprentice graphic designer under Niklaus Troxler and finally opened his own studio, Mixer, in Lucerne in 2003. In 2009, Erich Brechbühl was co-founder of the Weltformat Graphic Design Festival in Lucerne and started the regular exchange meeting for graphic designers called Show & Tell in 2012. He won numerous international awards for his posters and he is an AGI member since 2007.
