Program

1) Workshop 1_Typography Having a Life: Life.js
Instructor: Jeonghyo Lee (front-end developer, technical artist, creative coder and musician)
This workshop is designed to create a “digital life” using p5.js, a text-based programming language. Based on the digital “ancestral genes” pre-declared and defined in Life.js, participants could write a program to develop and reconstruct the manifestation of a life and its behavior patterns. The workshop allows participants to observe the change in each object over time and the interaction between objects by implanting each one’s unique digital gene into a “sharing ecosystem” server.

2) Workshop 2_Reproducing Typography: My Face, My Worth
Instructor: Just Project (product design studio)
This workshop is designed to regenerate useless or dysfunctional typography into entirely different things by removing the informative function of typography and then replacing it with figures and colors. How the dismantled, reassembled and rearranged typography would function? The workshop allows participants to create a collage poster with a theme of “my face” and functional objects with a theme of “my worth” by using different printed materials and outdoor advertising materials which have been expired or are soon to be discarded.

3) Workshop 3_Mutating Typography: Mutant
Instructor: Hyejin Oh (graphic designer, representative of OYE, a graphic design studio)
This workshop offers participants an opportunity to create drawing tools based on one’s own aesthetic sense and to utilize those tools under certain conditions given by the instructor.
