The theme of the ‘Typojanchi 2018-2019: International Typography Biennale’ is ‘Typography and Objects’. Typography is originally a ‘use of type’, but today’s typography is ‘how to use everything’. Typography, which used only ‘type’, now uses ‘everything’ as a material, such as pictures, photographs, symbols, movements, and sounds.

‘Typojanchi 2018–2019: International Typography Biennale, Typography, and Objects’ is about the present of typography that is involved in ‘type’ and ‘everything(objects).’ It is about a list of objects related to typography, transforming into objects, naming, typography by objects, objects that are created by time, and the common point of objects and typography that circulate without
beginning or end.

‘Typojanchi 2018–2019: International Typography Biennale’ consists of the Pre-Biennale ‘Typojanchi Saisai 2018-2019: International Typography Biennale’ and the main event ‘Typojanchi 2019: International Typography Biennale’. Typojanchi 2019: International Typography Biennale examines the way typography relates to objects, whereas Typojanchi Saisai 2018-2019: International Typography Biennale borrows the types based on the shapes of objects to prepare programs such as lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and publications and shares through the program the way several designers handle typography and objects.
