타이포잔치 Typojanchi 2013

The poet Shim Bo Seon reflects on the life using everyday language, with a deep concern of the relationship between poetry and politics, although he is more interested in unproductive love than productive labor. With his work, he imagines a commune of solidarity rather than an artistic silence. He studied social science at the Seoul National University, and earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York. He debuted in 1994, and has published two collections of poems. He earned the Nojak Literary Award in 2011.

Designer Noh Eun You has published a Korean alphabet that can phonetically represent the sound of Japanese language, and is now working on a new Korean serifed typeface, Ro Myung-che. She earned her Ph.D. from Hongik University for a study on Choi Jeong-ho’s Korean type designs. Currently she works as a researcher at Ahn Graphics Typography Institute, and teaches at Hongik University and Konkuk University.

Two by Shim Bo Seon and Noh Eun You explores “two kinds of language, two kinds of sign, two kinds of typo-theater,” capturing the ambiguity of linguistic signs presented on two different media: print and screen.
